Privacy policy

Last updated October 2026. Draft pending legal review.

What we collect

  • A session cookie. One first-party cookie identifies your browser so a match survives a refresh. It is required for the game to work and is not used for advertising.
  • What you type in a match. Your comebacks are stored with the match so the result can be shown and shared. A comeback that is blocked by moderation is not stored.
  • Your email address, only if you sign up. It is used to sign you in and is never shown on results, feeds, the daily board, or sharecards.
  • A display name, only if you choose to set one.
  • Usage events, such as a match starting or a round finishing. These record identifiers and scores, not the text of any roast.
  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and a few actions, such as starting a match, finishing one, or signing up. Google sets its own cookies for this and receives your network address and device details. It is never sent the text of a roast, your email address, or your display name.

What we do not collect

Toast Battle does not ask for a profile, photos, interests, or personal details, and Toast, the AI opponent, is given no information about you. We do not store your IP address. To discourage abuse of the free match, we keep a salted, one-way hash derived from your network address and browser type; it rotates daily and cannot be turned back into an address.

AI processing

When a model provider is enabled, the scene and the lines in your match are sent to that provider to generate the opponent’s lines, check content, and score the round. Your email and display name are never sent.

Sharing and publishing

A result page can be opened by anyone who has its link, and is not listed in search engines. A result appears in Recent only if you explicitly publish it, which is off by default and can be reversed at any time. Sharing a link privately does not publish it.

Your controls

  • Delete any match you played. Its lines are erased and its links stop working.
  • Hide your best line from shared links and the sharecard.
  • Unpublish a result from Recent.

Age

Toast Battle is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
